2018. Summary - Independent filmmaker Tofik Hussen is a native of Ethiopian and has worked in Africa and the U.S. for the past eight years as a filmmaker, and theater artist. Tofik's work is always looking into dark corners, finding the light, addressing the themes of justice, transformation, and healing. Finding the Gold Within is his seventh film project as director/producer. His film The Walk of Abuka (2017, 11 min)-we recount stories through an eye of a camera. the venue of Ethiopian tradition to children through New Year celebrations This short documentary film has been screened in more than 4 festivals and theaters all over the world. It was "short-listed" for the 2017 BEST JURY AWARD Nomination for Short Documentary and has won three awards, including JURUY Award from Florida, USA, and Ethiopia Int'l Film Festival. This work was also photographed and edited by Tofik. His earlier video pieces His film Gareta (2010, 5 min)-recounting the Ethiopian children battle for gaining the government's attention at a minimum for a playground while the government is busy from corruption and injustice for kids. This short documentary film has been screened in more than 37 festivals and theaters all over the world. It was "short-listed" for the 2010 BEST JURY AWARD Nomination for Short Documentary and has won three awards, including JURUY Award from France and Ethiopia Int'l Film Festival.
